Ruben Ruvalcaba-Ramirez earned a B.S. in Agronomy and Plant Health from the Chapingo Autonomous University in Texcoco, Mexico. After graduating, he worked as a laboratory technician in the plant health diagnostics lab at the College of Postgraduates (COLPOS) in Montecillo, Mexico, where he gained experience diagnosing pests and diseases of agronomic importance using both traditional and molecular approaches. He later earned an M.S. in Plant Pathology from the Chapingo Autonomous University, focusing on viral diseases of solanaceous plants. Ruben joined the Schnable Lab as a Research Specialist, where he is scaling up high-throughput RNA extraction to process 5,000+ samples.
