Fulbright Visiting Scholar

Pooja Shukla is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar from The Millet Lab at the University of Hyderabad in India. Her research centers on the genomics of foxtail millet (Setaria italica), a C4 model crop. She aims to systematically explore and use the crop’s phenotypic and genetic diversity to identify and characterize the genetic determinants underlying yield-contributing agronomic and nutritional traits.

During her visit to the Schnable Lab, Pooja is constituting a core collection as a resource for understanding the quantitative genetics of a USDA foxtail millet germplasm panel. She is using genome-wide association studies to identify genetic determinants underlying architecture and yield-related traits.
